She had this to say about what inspired her to choose shapeshifting dragons. <br /><blockquote>"I knew I wanted to write about shapeshifters of some sort, and my first thought was werewolves. But there are already so many great werewolf romances out there, and I really wanted to do something different. One day I was watching the hawks soaring above my yard (I have house rabbits as pets, so watching out for hawks is part of my job) and I was so taken with their ferocious beauty and grace. I’d love to be able to fly like that!
